Ely Repair Cafe

With almost 1.5 tonnes of CO₂ saved, the Repair Cafe is back in Ely Library to save you money and keep on saving CO₂

Saturday 25 October from 11.00am – 2.00pm in Ely Library

The Ely Repair Cafe is coming up to its 8th event on Saturday 25 October 2025, and we want your help. We’re just 200kg of CO₂ away from hitting the 1.5 tonne mark, could you be the person to tip us over? On average we save 186kgs of CO₂ each time we host a repair cafe, so we want to make it to 200kgs this time. What a way to round off the year!

If you come along with your broken appliance, jewellery, clothing or something else, you’ll not only be helping the environment, but saving yourself some money too. Our experienced repairers will be on hand to look at it and give a repair a go, and all totally for free!

It’s always a lovely day with tea, coffee and cake available (for a small donation to keep things running!), a wonderful atmosphere and so many interesting things getting taken apart, understood and carefully put back together.

So, do you have something that’s broken that you don’t know how to fix but can’t bring yourself to throw away? Something like a toaster, kettle, lamp, bag, toy, jewellery or pair of jeans? Bring it along to the Repair Cafe being held on Saturday 25 October from 11.00am – 2.00pm in Ely Library and get it seen to by an experienced volunteer repairer for free. They will pinpoint the problem and try to fix it there and then for you, or let you know what spare parts to get for when you come back next time.

Repair Cafes don’t just save money and reduce waste, they also bring people together. Our repairers are keen to share their skills, stop things going to landfill and reduce the impact that buying new stuff has on the environment. We’ve already saved enough CO₂ to be equivalent to growing 22 tree seedlings for 10 years, and avoided almost 250kg of waste. We’ve love you to come along, save some money, and continue to help make an impact!
