March 20th The Rotary Club of Ely relaxed on a night out at Indian Edge in Broad St Ely. It had been a busy month continuing with gathering tools to send to needy countries, preparing for Aquafest and hearing a speaker about the Cambridgeshire Down's Syndrome association for parents.

March 27th Eduardo Prato, a volunteer helicopter pilot from Venezuela, gave the Rotary Club of Ely a most enlightening talk on the remarkable work of the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA). A 100% charity, which receives no regular Government funding, relies on fund raising and Public donations to finance the £17.3 million needed annually to continue over 1300 missions a year.
The aim of EAAA is to bring the Hospital to the Patient and is in effect a mini flying Hospital carrying blood & plasma on board together with a ventilator if the need arises. The most seriously injured are flown direct to the nearest local trauma Hospital even if there is a Hospital closer but less able to deal with the injuries.
As well as the helicopter missions, EAAA provide aftercare and emotional support for families, friends and onlookers together with training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and over 63,000 people have been taught life savings skills.
Anyone wishing to donate or learn more about CPR should go to the EAAA website
