Ely Museum is delighted that our much loved, traditional Father Christmas Grotto can return to the museum this year!
Following two years of closure during which the museum underwent a £2.2m National Lottery Heritage Fund development & two years of Covid, we are so pleased to be welcoming Father Christmas back to the museum.
Whilst, due to Covid, however, not all of our wonderful volunteers are able to participate this year and those families who have visited before may notice some differences from our usual festive line up, we have an excellent weekend planned & we are looking forward to welcoming the children of Ely back to meet Father Christmas. Children will be able to meet Father Christmas, share their wish-lists and receive a special gift too, thanks to the generous elves at the City Cycle Centre. There will also be crafts & a tombola to enjoy on the day too!
Emily Allen, Community Engagement Officer at Ely Museum said;
“After such a long time without Father Christmas at the museum, due to both our amazing redevelopment and Covid, we are especially delighted to be able to welcome him back to the Old Gaol. We trust that everyone has been on their best behaviour & is excited to share their Christmas wish lists!” To find more information about the grotto, including our Covid requirements, please visit www.elymuseum.org.uk/whats-on/father-christmas The grotto will take place between 10:30am – 4pm on Saturday 11th December & Sunday 12th December. Tickets are sold on the door and do not need to be pre-booked.
